So, today I had an appt to get Honey B evaluated for the fear of the helium tank/balloon popping incidents, and it was not good news. No, I do not need to retire her, but the re-conditioning training may also involve her thyroid. I had no idea that golden retrievers can have thyroid conditions, which can cause behaviors that change out of the blue. I was honest about what has been happening, and the steps I took to try and correct it. So, I need to schedule a blood workup, and see what comes of that. I will also need to get a "recording" of the helium tank and start using it to re-create the situation at home, and then slowly bring it closer and louder towards her, till she is over the "fear". So, now on to step 2, which is to find out how much this thyroid/bloodscreen will cost, and then what happens if she does need to be on meds for the rest of her life? Anyway, more to come later, just wanted to give a quick update on things. Tags: behavioral, recondition training, thyroid Current Location: edcc Current Mood: concerned

Quick post, as I get everything packed up and ready to head back up to Washington. Last nights Tricky Pixie show ROCKED!!!! Everything went great, sooj was doing her best to hold back and keep from re-injuring herself, but still that little pixie could not stay completely still. Hope she didn't strain herself (much). omnisti and I spoke abit after the show, and I was assured that sooj had taken it at her intended pace. stealthcello ruled her cello, as always, and looked mighty beautiful as well. I think if there were more cello players like her, there would be more interest in classical music as well. ryuuaja was in fine form. I loved his "antics" during Alligator. So, in brief, this show was one that I will remember for many years to come. I'm very much looking forward to FaerieWorld 2009. Safe Journey to all who are traveling home today. See some of you at FW09, and see others as the tailwinds help our paths cross. ~mindi, rich, and Honey B. Made it to Oregon in about 7 hours, and that is what I expected it to take, regardless of what other "directions" websites say. Didn't hit too much traffic, limited stopping (made it on the one tank of gas purchased in Lynnwood, WA aprox 300 miles away), and not being able to find the hotel because hotels.com website that gives directions, gave false directions to this hotel. Even the guy at Costco gas station could not get it right. That added an additional 45 min to the already 7 hr trip. I do have Honey B with me, and the hotel tried to tell my DH that we needed to give a $15 pet deposit. HA! She is a service dog, people. They wanted medical proof of her being a service dog. I DON'T THINK SO! It is illegal to ask for it, and should I need to challenge any additional charges to my credit card, we will take this up. My hotel is about 7 blocks from the McDonald Theater and location of FaerieBall. We opted to walk to the theater, which is probably a good thing, cause why pay to park 3 blocks away and have to walk anyway. Hmmm... I was tired last night, and was planning to leave before the concert part, wanting to see what vendors had for "sale". I don't have much $$$, but it was nice to see stuff and talk with them. As I was telling Rich let's get going, I hear a familar voice start singing. It was sooj and stealthcello on stage, performing a couple of songs (about 4). I went down to the stage and listened to the performance. Oh, also, saw a bunch of friends here last night, sidhefire, cheerfulolygirl, many others, and that was nice too. Tonight will be Tricky Pixie, and I will be dressing up for the show tonight. Last night I was just too tired. Ok, more later. So, after Sunday and Honey B's ordeal, she went to the vet today, and it turns out that she has a gastrotenstenal infection. At least is isn't something that requires surgery, or her even missing time away from me when I'm in school. What it did do was cost me $105 dollars I did not really have right now. UGH! Oh, wait, I didn't say what caused me to bring her to the vet, did I? Sunday at Wal-Mart she threw up and then again at Bartell Drugs. Then outside of Bartell's she had bloody stool. Ok, come to today..... I don't want anything bad to happen, so I called the vet and got her in. She got an injection and 2 different types of pills to take. Fun Fun Fun giving a dog medications. Oh, and did I mention school in all this? need sleep. Tags: honey b, medications, veternarian, walmart Current Mood: exhausted
